Georgy girl film responce

This is a film about a young woman named Georgy who is extremely talented and loves to work with children. Her appearance is different to the usual 60's girl as she wears very plain and dark clothing however her bubbly personality over throws this. she lives with her best friend Meredith who is the complete opposite to Georgy with colour clothing and a good life going out every night to party;s and seeing many guys.
Whilst Meredith sleeps around, she also has a boyfriend named Jos who she becomes pregnant with and decides to keep this child and marry Jos.
however things start to change with jos sudddenly in love with georgy and meredith wanting to give up the baby, both georgy and jos decide that they will keep the baby and live together. Theyre both seen to be happy together however Jos is sometimes angry with Georgy for always paying attention to the baby, so he leaves her out of the blue.
This leaves Georgy alone and desperate for money and help, where then she goes back to her old, and old aged family friend Leamington whose wife had recently died, and with the contract earlier in her life of her becoming his mistress, she accepts and marry's him making sure that her future for money and the child is sorted.
At the end of the film we see both their facial expressions which seem disappointed and worried, with Leamington showing that he realises that he may of made a mistake.

At first I didn't understand the film and didn't like it but once i thought about how it reflected the 60's and how some woman actually lived iv'e began to like it more and more.

Georgy girl (1966) opening scene

In the opening scene we hear the song 'Georgy girl' with the lyrics representing her.
We firstly see Georgy walking down the high street beginning to swing her purse with her hair tied up and dressed in all black with a leather coat on, which is opposite to the swinging 60's look that most woman had with their brightly patterned dresses and done up hair.
We then see Georgy doing a quick glance into a hair dressers and noticing the hair styles that are displayed that reflect the woman's style in the 60's with her then taking in what the hair styles are like and seems to be showing a little interest in the woman's hair styles inside.
Georgy starts to walk away but then is shown to have a quick change of mind and decides to have a go with the look. The camera shows all 3 wigs one by one, then again from the front angle which then shows Georgy standing outside the shop with her new hair style looking pleased. however, Georgy then touches her hair and looks at it into the window noticing what it looks like a starts to run until in a public bathroom where her hair has now fallen out where she also wets it and puts it back up to make it look like how it did before and she walks out with confidence and a smile
The opening scene shows how different Georgy is to the typical girl of the 60's with her hair and old fashioned preserved style introduces Georgy's personality straight away for the audience.

Up the junction personal responce

The film 'up the junction' is about a rich Chelsea girl called Polly, who decides to move to Battersea through boredem. She finds herself a stable job, cozy flat and a few good new friends who play a big part in the film as well as Polly. throughout the film the woman are shown as stable and conversing in their job at the factory with a lot of gossip about their cheating husbands. Another character that is introduced into pollys life is peter who soon becomes her boyfriend, she falls completely in love until at the end of the film, where she finds out peter is only using her for a way out of Battersea through polly. She also finds out about a stolen car where we finally see him go to jail.

One of Polly's friends called Rube goes through a rough time with an abortion which is a big highlight and problem in the 60's. We clearly see a great deal of pain that rube was going through with close up's of rube during her abortion which creates a lot of emotion for the audience. and straight after this, she decides to get married to terry(who got her pregnant) however this ends in a disaster with him getting hit by a truck and dieing whilst they're on their way to bowling.

I personally enjoyed the film, although at times i probably laughed at the wrong bits, and the ending of the film disappointed me a lot as it felt like the film had just been paused as we see peter got off in a police van to jail, where then i was hoping to see what would happen after between Polly and peter however the film just ends with the van driving off.
